People with intellectual and developmental disabilities, or IDD, are often left out of conversations about meaningful relationships and healthy sexuality. It is important to recognize that people with IDD are sexual human beings and are deserving of safe, meaningful relationships.
This course discusses ways in which you as a direct support professional, or DSP, can help the individuals you serve to learn about healthy relationships, including safe boundaries, healthy sexuality, and exploitation prevention.
The goal of this course is to teach DSPs in IDD settings how they can support people with IDD to learn about building meaningful and safe relationships and healthy sexuality.
